omg this place is saur good! and the service is amazing! i came here with a big group of people (around 8-12) on a sunday with no reservation, and they were all really accommodating and friendly. everything we ordered was delicious (especially the cold cucumber and pork noodles, the scallion pancakes, and the dan dan noodles)! must come again. the service was great, the price was reasonable, and the food was so good!
Unappealing entrance but once you get in you will be greeted with aromatic smells. Quick, easy and clean restaurant which is good for group to chilling and enjoying their great food at the same time. All the dishes we ordered are well seasoned and delicious. Must try when you are at the area and want good Szechuan food.
The second I walked in, the aroma of the restaurant was telling me that the food would be good. I showed up on a 9 PM Saturday and it was almost a full house! Very busy. Lots of spicy food here! Be sure to wash it down with some coconut milk. I got the Flounder Filet with Spicy Garlic Sauce, which was truly INCREDIBLE! Tender milky fish, with minimal vegetables. The garlicky sauce was so flavorful and not unbearably spicy. I could eat the sauce alone with rice because it was so tasty! I highly recommend. This was a huge portion, but I almost finished it by myself because it was so addicting.
Came here on a Saturday for dinner without a reservation and the place is pretty spacious so we got seated right away. It's located kind of away from flushing proper so the restaurant itself is pretty big unlike some of the more cramped spots. The food was pretty good honestly, you can tell it's very genuine Szechuan style cooking. We had the spicy beef and string beans they were both so flavorful. I have never been so excited about any vegetable dishes but the beans were one of the favorite Chinese vegetable dishes ever. We also got spicy fish, the fish was fried first then put into spicy soup. The cooking style is amazing and everything was delicious. The spice they use are fresh and not too much for my taste. Our service though was a bit slow and I think at some point they forgot to make our fish and we had to ask multiple times before it finally came out. Would have been great if service was better but overall flavors are amazing and would definitely come again!
This place might have just built up my spice tolerance a little. There was a worker chilling by the front door when I walked in, but as soon as he saw a customer, he immediately greeted me and allowed me to sit in to wait. The menu was presented on a iPad. But you weren't able to order from there. You would still have to call them over to order, which is kind of counterintuitive, but we still at least save paper! Note their Yelp free drink check in is still valid! The Mapo Tofu ($16.95) wasn't too bad. It was two pepper signs, doable, and granted me the option to really enjoy its minced pork flavor. Eat all that you can while your mouth still able to detect flavors, because the Popcorn Chicken will numb your taste buds. I don't eat Szechuan often, so the tingling numbing effect still amuses me. Good thing I had my free Coconut milk (from check-in) to balance the spice! With a plethora of dish options Alley 41 has to offer, I am happy to have dabbled in Szechuan a bit through this experience, and it surprisingly wasn't as insanely spicy as I had feared. There was a point where I ate so much I was munching on a popcorn chicken piece fine? I would try Szechuan again because of Alley 41.
Spicyyy if you like spicy food then go for it! The tea smoked duck is very flavorful and skin is crispy, it has a nice smoky flavor. The mapo tofu was good, the chicken is original. Make sure you grab a bubble tea after to wash down the spiciness! Service was good, the waiters checked in a few times to make sure we were okay.
